“God Is Faithful” Today – October 23rd
“Lord, my heart is not proud. . .nor do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me” – (Psalm 131:1)
Business Bondage
by Larry Burkett
Business bondage is anything that disrupts your priority system as a Christian. If you are a stay-at-home wife and your husband is in business, you are a part of that business with him. God created you as a working unit, so you need to understand God’s principles and then help your husband.
A Christian’s priority system should begin with an active, viable personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That means reading and getting truth and direction from God’s Word on a regular basis. It also means communicating with and praying to God.
Any Christian who is so involved with business that he or she has no time to study God’s Word, to pray, or to get involved with other people and their needs is in bondage.
Also, a Christian who is unable to communicate and meet the needs of his or her spouse is in business bondage.
Third, a Christian must be able to meet the needs of his or her children. We are responsible for the training of our children, and if we fail in raising our children God is not pleased.
Being in balance with the world’s system is risky, because the world has never been in balance with God’s system.
If you or your spouse are required to work 10, 12, or 14 hours a day to do a good job, to make more money, or just to get ahead, watch out. That’s bondage.
If you are in bondage, because of business or for any other reason, ask God to help you bring balance into your life today.
