CFL Bulbs

How safe are the new CFL bulbs? Based on what is contained on the advisory, it makes you extremely afraid to have those bulbs around your home. You have to be EXTREMELY careful when they break. Parents with small children or even older children, should be more careful.

We switched to these new bulbs about three years ago. We have not noticed any significant savings on our electric bill. Maybe the savings are there but with the rising cost of electricity who can really tell. Anyway, please click on this CFL Warning to see about how to safely dispose of the bulbs, what to do when they break, and most importantly to see what happened to someone who stepped on a broken bulb. CAUTION: The photos are very graphic. If you have a weak stomach, you might not want to see them.
