Giving out of love

When you give, either to your church or others, do you do so because you feel you have to give or because you want something in return? Are you expecting God to bless you, so that you can have more money to buy more stuff? In other words, are you giving out of selfish ambition? If so, you need to stop. The Lord tells us:

When you do things, do not let ·selfishness [rivalry; selfish ambition] or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more ·honor [regard; value] to others than to yourselves.” Philippians 2-3

God wants us to be cheerful givers.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

God does not want us to hoard or upgrade our lifestyles with the abundance He provides to us. He wants us to help others. He wants us to tithe and go beyond our tithe.  When you do what God commands, you experience peace in your heart and in your life.
