It might not seem that God and money should be listed in the same sentence. However, the Bible has 2,350 verses that deal with money. Jesus spoke more about money than anything else.
Why would an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent God speak about money so much? It is because God knows our hearts. He knows that if we are not careful, we will worship money more than we do Him. We must guard our hearts against false idols.
When we worry more or think more about money than we do about God, we have turned money into an idol.
Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
You see God knows that whatever we dwell upon will become our treasure. God does not want us to worship anything other than Him.
Matthew 6:19-20 – 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
