Honoring a Vow

“God Is Faithful” Today – May 20th

“When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it, for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.” – (Acts 20:35)

Honoring a Vow
by Larry Burkett

A principle that has been greatly overlooked in our generation is that of making a vow.

A vow is literally a promise.

When someone borrows money, he or she makes a promise to repay according to the agreed-upon conditions of the loan (no matter whether it’s a bank loan, personal loan, or use of a credit card). Once an agreement is sealed, repayment is not an option. It’s an absolute as far as God is concerned.

As representatives of Jesus Christ before the world, Christians are admonished to think ahead and consider the consequences of their actions. Once a Christian borrows money, the vow must be honored and the money repaid.

If you can’t keep your vows, don’t make them.
