Very rich

“Abram was very rich. He owned many cattle, sheep, and goats, and had a lot of silver and gold.” – Genesis 13:2 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Continuing on our financial stewardship journey, we find that God blessed Abram. Abram received material possessions from the Lord because of his prior obedience to God. We saw previously that Abram left his extended family and homeland. He put his trust in God and followed the Lord’s command.

When we place our trust in God, we too receive God’s blessings for us. We do not know what His plans for our lives are going to be. However, we have to trust His knowledge of us. Who knows us more intimately than we know ourselves? Does not a creator know his creation? God’s rewards might not occur here, but they will occur in heaven if we are faithful to Him and His Word. He might reward us on this earth. If he doesn’t, we need to remember that earth is not our home. Heaven is our home.
