What Faults?

“God Is Faithful” Today – October 14th

“Who regards you as superior? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?” – – 1 Corinthians 4:7 (NASB)

What Faults?
by Larry Burkett

In order to cure a disease, we must first be able to recognize its symptoms, which are visible, outside indicators. Although we may not always recognize these symptoms in ourselves, others will. So it becomes vital for us to stay open to criticism, particularly from those who are spiritually discerning.

Th e people most consistent in discerning our faults are usually our spouses. God has placed them in our lives as a balance, and they will help to off set our extremes if we will listen.

This works both ways, because we also are balance for them. I’ll have to say that more often than not it is the husband who refuses to take counsel from his wife. Why? Pride.

Once we are trapped by pride, we can be of no service to God. We must accept criticism, humble ourselves, call on His mercy and forgiveness.

Make me aware, Father, of any pride in my life, and help me to overcome it.
