What matters most

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:37–39

Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair. — G. K. Chesterton

Some people claim to love God but have a strong aversion to “religion.” But we are called to be part of the body of Christ, so an isolated faith isn’t part of God’s plan. However, the desire to keep things simple isn’t so bad.

When the religious leaders of His day asked Jesus what matters most, He was able to summarize the Ten Commandments and the entire body of religious law into two simple commands:

* Love God with all your heart.

* Love your neighbor as yourself.
What more is there? It doesn’t get any simpler than that. But don’t mistake simple for easy. Jesus Himself showed us the true cost of loving God and others!

What will you do today to show love to your neighbors? How will you show God your great love for Him?
