Your Goodness and Love Will Follow

Are you in the habit of memorizing scripture? Chuck Swindoll wrote, “I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture. . . . No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper and much more effective. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. . . . Your faith will be solidified” (Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life, Zondervan). This week we’re bringing you devotions from various Christian writers based on one of the most popular scriptures in the Bible, Psalm 23. We invite you to use this week to commit to memory David’s heavenly pastoral full of joy, confidence, and praise for our Father. ~ Devotionals Daily

All through the ages, Psalm 23 has been a favorite psalm. Every line is rich with meaning.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. Trust Christ as your Good Shepherd—He promises to meet our needs.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He gives us rest and spiritual nourishment.

He leadeth me beside the still waters. He calms our troubled souls.

He restoreth my soul. He renews our spirits when we spend time with Him.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. His Word teaches us how to live right.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. He overcomes our fears, even of death.

For Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. He’s always with us to discipline and encourage. This makes us feel secure.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. He gives us strength with those who aren’t for us.

Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. He gives us an abundance of blessings.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.Daily, He reminds us of His love and forgiveness.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. He provides us eternal, abundant life.
