The root of evil

You probably have heard that “money is the root of evil”. However, this is actually incorrect.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10

As you can see, it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. We are not called to hoard money. We cannot do anything with a closed fist except punch. Also, nothing can get in or go out of a clenched fist. If your hand is open, then you are able to give and to receive God’s blessings. Loving money does not allow you to grow. It turns you into a hoarder. God does not want us to hoard. He wants us to provide for His kingdom for those in need.

We are told to love God and then love one another. We are not told to love money. Remember to keep an open hand and not a closed fist.
